Herbal teas are a gentle yet effective way to include these wonderful plants in your life. We would recommend the following doses if you are looking to gain the most out of their active constituents, infusing each cup for 5-15 minutes:

Honey can be added to taste, except for babies less than 1 year old.

Adult               1-2 cups before bed

Child 8-16       1/2 an adult dosage

Child 2-8         1/3 of an adult dosage

Child 0-2         1/2 cup of weak infusion

With herbal teas you can simply make them weaker by infusing them for a shorter period of time (ie for 5 minutes).

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

Avoid taking all herbal teas in the first trimester of pregnancy, unless specifically indicated to be suitable.

Take only 1-2 cups a day of herbal tea in the rest of pregnancy and while breast feeding, and aim for a variety of different teas.
